In my first reply I will take care of the first part of the problem OK. You have to go in the Live control surfaces preferences and select the MPK from the list. Of course it will take longer next time to load a big template than a small, but it is easier to remove tracks then to add, and get them at the right knobs and sliders.

Or do the same in the Vyzex app and save the preset and dump it to the MPK. We also ran into a bunch of whacky issues, ie couldn't save a preset in the Akai, Reaper initially didn't see the Akai at all, accidentally overriding an existing preset. The time now is Send a private message to violinbow.
